Flapjacks are a favourite for many. They're a great way to enjoy wholegrain oats and in this recipe, the oats are joined by protein-rich seeds to provide longer-lasting energy.

75 g mixed seeds e.g. sunflower, pumpkin, poppy
 125 g butter
 75 g unrefined sugar
 1 tbsp blackstrap molasses
 175 g oats
 50 g chopped dried fruit

1

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees centigrade or 180 degrees centigrade if using a fan-assisted oven

2

Grind the seeds to a powder in a food processor and set aside

3

Melt the butter, sugar and blackstrap molasses in a large saucepan.

4

Once melted, add the ground seeds, oats and dried fruit to the saucepan and stir well, until all the oats are covered.

5

Pop the mixture into 8-9 brownie tin holes and bake for 20 minutes.

6

Remove from the oven and leave to cool a little before removing the flapjacks from the brownie tin.
